Protecting God’s Children Training
Protecting God’s Children is an awareness program and training session that deals with the topic of Child Sexual Abuse and how to prevent it. Protecting God’s Children Certification and Background Checks are required for all Catechists, all volunteers over age 18 and drivers for Harvest Sunday. If you are planning on volunteering or if you are interested in learning more about this problem and how to be part of the solution, you must register online at: www.virtusonline.org.
Two sessions will be held at St Elizabeth Seton:

Ministers of Care and Alden Nursing Center Ministry Training
“For I was… ill and you cared for me.” Additional ministers are needed for both ministries, bringing Holy Communion to the sick. Ministers of Care bring Holy Communion to the Catholic patients at Edward Hospital on Wednesdays, on a rotating basis, with each minister visiting once every four to six weeks. Alden Nursing Center Ministers visit Alden Nursing Center on Thursday mornings. They arrive at Alden Nursing Center at 10am and have a Mass or Communion service, pray the rosary, and then distribute Holy Communion to the Catholic patients in their rooms. Both of these ministries are in need of more volunteers. If you are interested in joining either ministry, there will be a training session on Wednesday, August 29 at 7:30pm in the lower level of the church. If you would like more information about the Ministers of Care ministry please call Linda Hill at (630) 527-9045 . If you would like more information about the Alden Nursing Center Ministry please call Betty Torson at (630) 983-5331 . Please let Linda Hill (630)527-9045 know if you are planning on attending the training session.

Religious Education
Year of Faith
Any family who has not registered for Religious Education for 2012-2013, please do so as quickly as possible. There is a $25 registration fee at this time. Please take the time to fill out your registration form and return to our office. At St. Elizabeth Seton we make every effort to assist you in passing on the faith to the children. Please do NOT let financial difficulties keep you from enrolling your children into our program. Call us and we can assist you. It is so important that all be given the opportunity to be educated in our faith and fully prepared for sacraments. If your child has missed a year or several years, we will work with you on getting your child caught up.
Catechists are needed! Catechist registration is also included in each packet. Catechists will receive quality training and support. This year, the Diocese of Joliet is requiring that all catechists meet certain standards of formation annually. This is an opportunity to strengthen your faith and deepen your understanding of Catholicism. Several training sessions will be held here at St. Elizabeth Seton. (see below). There will be many opportunities to acquire credit hours throughout the year.
Please pray and consider being a catechist for this upcoming year. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of our children. If you need more information or have any questions, call the RE office at 630-416-1992 .
