Father’s Day Novena of Masses

We will be celebrating a Novena of Masses (Nine Masses) at St. Elizabeth Seton beginning on Father’s Day to be offered for all the Men, living and deceased who have touched us in some way, and whom we want to remember with a series of Masses. For those who have lost Fathers and Grandfathers, it is especially fitting to remember them in this fashion since we cannot each have a Mass intention on Father’s Day and the week following. Please be thinking of the names you would want included on the altar for those Masses. Envelopes for those names will be in the pews on the weekend of June 2-3 for your intentions. This is the same type of Novena of Masses we did for Mother’s Day. But this time we remember those men both living and deceased. Please be prepared to give us the names of those men from your lives whom you would like remembered.

Eucharistic Procession at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish

Can you participate in our Eucharistic procession?   We would like to especially invite our First Communicants, Confirmandi and Neophytes to participate in the annual Corpus Christi procession on June 10 after the 11:30 Mass.  We will process around our campus to an altar near the Mary Garden praising Jesus who is present to us in the Blessed Sacrament.  At the outdoor altar, we’ll have Benediction prayers and song.

We have need for adult volunteers to carry the canopy, the banners as well as servers for the Crucifix and candles.  We also welcome children who could carry flower baskets of rose petals to drop in the procession before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  If anyone would like to take part in this moving ceremony, please contact chapel@sesnaperville.org as soon as possible. There will be a rehearsal during the week before the feast day.

This Procession and Benediction will be offered for reconciliation and recommitment for the safety of all children from abuse, and for those whose lives have been ruined by false accusations.  Please offer prayers for this intention at that time, as they are prayed for in the Eucharistic Chapel.

Happy Father’s Day!

God our Father,
in your wisdom and love you made all things.
Bless those fathers who have taken upon themselves, the responsibility of parenting.
Bless those who have lost a spouse to death … or divorce
who are parenting their children alone.
Strengthen them by your love that they may be and become
the loving, caring persons they are meant to be.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen
