Evangelization Activities

evangelization

Evangelization, simply put, is leading people to Jesus. It is an invitation to every person to know and love Jesus as Savior and Redeemer through: our witness which is the way we live our faith; and our sharing which is spreading the Good News in an explicit way.

The Evangelization Core Team sends a representative to each Commission’s monthly meeting to help identify areas where evangelization is already taking place in our Parish and to brainstorm ideas about what more can be done in this area-especially to bring people to the Eucharist.

The Evangelization Core Team has introduced the “Welcome Back” Pew Card Program. Cards are placed in the pews during liturgies. Cards welcome the visitor to St. Elizabeth Seton by saying “welcome…we’re glad you are here.” The card provides a simple way for the visitor to ask for information about returning to the Church, about becoming Catholic; or ask a question about our faith, or just wanting to talk with someone about the Church. Anyone wishing to complete and return the cards will be contacted by a staff member who will assist the individual with their question or need.

Recently the Evangelization Core Team has been involved in multigenerational Eucharistic Catechesis and Adoration. In close collaboration with the religious education program, team members have been instrumental in bringing Eucharistic Adoration to the youth of our parish and their parents at special catechesis and adoration liturgies designed especially for their age groups.

Welcome & Information Center

Welcome and Information Center:

HELP WANTED!!! Welcome Desk Ministry

We thank all the parishioners who have served and continue to serve at the welcome desk over the last year and this ministry is growing. We have received accolades for the way our visitors and our parishioners, have been cordially greeted and taken care of. This is a first impression that is really making a difference.

Our Welcome Desk in the upper Narthex has been a terrific success in providing an immediate source of information across a wide spectrum of needs. As the front line in our effort to welcome all who come, our Welcome Ministry mans the Welcome and Information Desk and each person is trained to provide critical information to parishioners and visitors and to forward questions and inquiries to the proper staff members.

With the fall season almost upon us we are looking to add to our numbers in the welcome ministry. This ministry literally takes 15 minutes before Mass and 15 minutes after Mass on a scheduled basis (you will usually be scheduled two Masses per month), and your service makes a lasting difference. We are looking for a number of additional adult and teen Welcome desk volunteers to provide a true “welcome” to all who stop by for any reason. You don‘t need to know it all. We will train you on where to find information or where to refer a question for an answer. How we handle inquiries of any kind may determine the fist impression and the lasting one a visitor will form about our faith community.

If you like to smile and love meeting people and helping them with a wide range of inquiries (which is needed at every Mass) we will train you and prepare you. You will love it! This is front line Evangelization at work. We need your help in continuing to offer a warm welcome to all.
