Liturgical Ministry Schedule

Wedding Hostess Ministry

image004The ministry begins four weeks before the wedding and continues on the day of the wedding to ensure a smooth ceremony.

The Wedding Hostess needs to be available for approximately 1½  hours for the rehearsal and 3 hours for the wedding. Being a part of the Wedding Hostess Ministry and witnessing the beautiful Sacrament of Marriage is a wonderfully uplifting experience.

Mass Coordinators

This is a new ministry here at St. Elizabeth Seton. Because of the limited time frame between each Sunday liturgy, the numerous liturgical ministries represented at each Mass, and the need to facilitate better communication and coordination between all represented ministries at a particular liturgy, a person is needed to facilitate communication between all these volunteers at each Mass. This will be the responsibility of the Mass Coordinator.

The Mass Coordinator is responsible to coordinate all liturgical ministries present at their individual weekend Mass. This individual is responsible for: communicating relevant information pertaining to that Mass to all affected ministries and making sure that each ministry is fully staffed so that the Mass flows in a sacred, seamless and prayerful manner. The ministries under the guidance of the Mass Coordinator for their assigned weekend Liturgy includes the following:

•  Greeters

•  Altar Servers

•  Lectors/Commentators

•  Extraordinary Ministers of Communion

For the individual Mass Coordinator to be most effective, he/she is trained in the various liturgical aspects of the Mass, as well as the responsibilities of the various ministries under their guidance. The Mass Coordinator needs to be calm, yet assertive, in their demeanor so as not to disturb the sacredness of the liturgy.

If you are interested in helping with this new, but important ministry, please call Deacon Bart at (630) 416-3325 ext. 73.

Extraordinary Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers are practicing Catholics who have received the sacrament of Confirmation. Each minister is scheduled three to four times in a three month period. Training is provided. Appropriate dress is required for all Ministers (i.e. no shorts or flip-flops during the summer months).

Funeral Liturgies

Please contact Sister Karen at the parish office to help with funeral liturgy planning.

Liturgy Planning

mass1tLiturgy Planning Committee:  Planners must be willing to work in a collaborative manner, acquire an understanding of the church’s liturgy, and make choices within the boundaries of good liturgy and authentic parish traditions. Training is provided.
