Diocese Welcomes New Auxiliary Bishop

The following was taken from the Diocese of Joliet website:

Bishop Siegle

Bishop Joseph Siegel

On January 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., in the Cathedral of Raymond Nonnatus, Joseph M. Siegel was ordained as our new Auxiliary Bishop, where he will assist Bishop Sartain in the pastoral administration of the Diocese of Joliet. He receives the office of teaching, governing and sanctifying as a bishop. He will exercise his ministry in union with the Pope and his fellow bishops throughout the world.  An auxiliary bishop is also given a “titular see” since he is not a diocesan bishop.  The “titular see” is usually the name of a diocese somewhere in the world that has been suppressed at some time in the past (i.e., absorbed into another diocese.)   It is an honorary title given to the Bishop to remember in prayer those who have gone before us. Bishop Siegel’s titular diocese will be Pupiana, northern Africa, in modern-day Tunisia, near the ancient city of Carthage.

Welcome Letter from Rev. Thomas Paul, our Pastor

Our Pastor, Fr. Tom Paul

Thank you for visiting our web site and for taking the time to become acquainted with St. Elizabeth Seton Parish.  St. Elizabeth Seton is a Catholic Faith Community that warmly embraces newcomers and visitors.  Our liturgies are focused upon helping us celebrate the living presence of the Lord.   Our many ministries reach out to serve parishioners as well as non-parishioners. The members of our faith community come from many backgrounds and live throughout the local area.

If you are a Catholic looking for a church we encourage you to come and celebrate Eucharist with us. If you are not a member of the Catholic Church, we welcome you to come and visit our community and consider joining our way of life.

St. Elizabeth Seton Community was founded in 1986, and is located at 87th Street and Lisson Road, Naperville, Illinois.  The parish has grown during these years, to a community of approximately 2,300 registered families.  We are an active parish with many opportunities for prayer and service to God and neighbor.

Our Parish Mission Statement stresses these objectives:

“We are people of God gathering together in prayer and faith as the community of St. Elizabeth Seton. The Eucharist is our gathering point, where evangelization is lived through worship, word, service and community. Lay leadership and responsible stewardship are integral to our Parish.

Our mission, individually and collectively, is to live the Gospel message and create a loving environment in which people feel welcome to participate, grow, worship and share their talents in service to God and neighbor. We shall strive to become more prayerful, peaceful people.”

We warmly welcome all visitors and newcomers to our Masses and other activities.  A Welcome Center, located in the Narthex of the church building, is staffed by parishioners who are able to answer your questions about our parish.  Please also know that you are welcome to call us with any questions, or if we can help you in any way.

St. Elizabeth Seton is one of three parishes who sponsor All Saints Catholic Academy in  Naperville.  The school is for preschool, and kindergarten through eighth grade.  A satellite preschool campus is also located at St. Elizabeth Seton.

We invite you to visit our campus and experience our prayerful liturgies, and also investigate the many ministries that are available to all. I’m sure you will find this to be a friendly and loving community.

Sincerely in Christ,

Rev. Thomas Paul, Pastor
